What is Angioedema Ayurvedic treatment

ANGIOEDEMA Meaning

Angioedema refers to a swelling of the minute arteries in the skin (Angios- arteries; edema - swelling). The term Angioedema is generally used in medicine for a condition in which there is swelling occurring in skin and tissues underneath the skin. Often this is a reaction to another trigger factor – like reaction to a medicine or an allergen. Mostly angioedema does not appear as a serious problem, but for some it may be a recurring issue and may be life-threatening (especially, if it affects breathing).1

As per Ayurveda, angioedema can be correlated with pravuddha avastha (advanced stage) of sheetpitta (Urticaria or skin rash). Considering the signs and symptoms patients with angioedema are treated on the lines of Sheetpitta Vyadhi Chikitsa (treatment of Urticaria or skin rash).2-3
