Diagnosis of HIP PAIN

Since hip pain in itself is a symptom¹, it is important to understand the underlying cause behind it. For this, your doctor will initially perform a physical examination and ask you certain questions related to your pain. Your doctor may additionally request you to perform some tests to confirm the diagnosis. These include:⁴

Blood tests - To test for any signs of infection
X- Rays - to confirm hip pain and rule out other causes of the pain
MRI scan – common imaging technique that takes multiple images of the soft tissues around your hip bone to find out the cause of the pain
Ultrasound – Imaging technique that uses sound waves to check your hip area
