What is Tics Ayurvedic treatment

TICS Meaning

Tics refer to the repetitive, uncontrollable actions of the body that are often involuntary. These could be actions like jerking of shoulders, twitching of nose, blinking of eyes or a specific sound. Generally tics are seen in younger age group between the ages of 2-15 years.1

As per Ayurveda, tics are a type of Vata-vyadhi that are caused by underlying aggravation of the Vata Dosha. Control of physical movement is an important function of vata dosha and any vitiation of vata can lead to impairments in the movement. The sudden jerky movements of a tic are caused by imbalanced vata that leads to impaired signaling in the mansa and majja dhatus, leading to involuntary movements.2
