Ayurvedic treatment for Tics

Know More on Bone Diseases

Tics are generally harmless and hence do not require specific treatment. Ayurveda considers controlling the symptoms through subduing the vitiated vata by snehana (oleation) and swedana (sudation). Panchkarma procedure like the basti karma (medicinal enemas) is also considered as a best way to manage excess vata.2 Shirodhara and Nasya therapy may be beneficial in facial tics.

Diet Recommendations (Aahar)

One should avoid excessive intake of amla (sour), lavan (salty), katu (hot), kshar (Alkali) ushna, and tikshna rasas (intake of hot, spicy and junk food).

Lifestyle changes (Vihar)

One should follow a systematic daily way of life (Dincharya) and avoid regimen that can cause vitiation of doshas, such as Prajagarana (sleeplessness), Vyavaya (sexual indulgence) and Vegadharana (suppression of urges).
