Diagnosis of Intertrigo is based on the location and appearance of the affected skin, and details of the patient’s history. Your doctor will perform the following tests to diagnose your condition:

  • Physical examination: Characteristic appearance and distribution of satellite papules and pustules helps in the diagnosis of secondary fungal infections.
  • Patient’s history: Patient’s history enables distinction of Intertrigo from other skin diseases. The history should include previous treatments, especially topical steroids and antibacterial soaps or ointments.
  • Laboratory examination: Scrapings from the skin examined under the microscope, using Wood lamp, or using a potassium hydroxide preparation helps in diagnosing conditions such as Candida or dermatophyte infections.

Diet Recommendations (Aahar)

  • Follow a detox process to remove Ama from the body.
  • Follow a Pitta-Kapha balancing diet.
  • Avoid excess sour, spicy and salty foods, coffee, tea, non-vegetarian food, sweets, fried or oily food.
  • Include mild sweet, bitter and astringent tasting foods in the diet.
