Symptoms of ACNE

Symptoms of acne vary with degree.

Mild acne may cause only:

Whiteheads – Closed plugged pores
Blackheads – Open plugged pores, where oil turns brown due to air exposure
Papules – Small red tender bumps

Severe acne may cause:

Pustules – Small red and tender skin with pus at tips
Nodules – Large solid painful lumps beneath the surface of skin
Cystic lesions – Pus-filled lumps beneath the skin surface

Cosmetic disfigurement due to acne can also lead to low self-esteem and sometimes depression.
