NOSE BLEED Ayurvedic Treatment

The physician will conduct a physical examination to detect the exact cause of nose bleed.  He or she will look for the presence of a foreign object which might be stuck inside the nose. The physician will also take a detailed medical history. Sometimes the physician might ask for certain diagnostic tests to be performed, these tests include:2

  • Blood tests including complete blood count, to check for blood disorders
  • Nasal endoscopy, i.e., examining nose using a special instrument
  • Partial thromboplastin time, to check for bleeding disorders
  • CT scan of the nose
  • X-ray of the face and nose

Diet Recommendations (Aahar)

  • Avoid spicy and hot food items.
  • Old rice, barley, green gram, lentil, bengal gram, red gram, crystal sugar, honey, sugarcane juice, cow ghee, banana, snake gourd, bitter gourd, cucumber, stem of lotus, leaves of neem, fruits of pomegranate, coconut, wood apple and grapes help to cure nose bleeds
  • A teaspoonful of Gulkand or rose petal jam helps in preventing a bloody nose.
  • Amla (Indian Gooseberry) is very rich in Vitamin C, Calcium and Iron. Daily consumption of juice or preparations of amla make way helps in preventing nose bleeding.
  • Drinking sufficient water daily will lead to a healthy nose.
  • Whole wheat or the ‘Brown bread’ or ‘Brown rice’ has ample of Zinc nutrient in it. Zinc helps in maintaining the body’s blood-vessels.
  • Increase the consumption of dark green leafy vegetables.

Lifestyle changes (Vihar)

  • Avoid mental pressure and stress.
  • Full time and sound sleep at night is highly recommended.
  • Cold water is one of the best ways to stop nasal bleeding
  • Instillation of lemon juice should be dropped into nostrils provides excellent relief.
  • Juice of fresh coriander leaves can be used as nasal drops.
  • A cotton bud dipped in rosewater and kept inside the nostrils stops the bleeding.
  • Tulsi juice mixed with honey will also help and provide extra strength to the body.
