BOWEL CONTROL PROBLEMS -FECAL INCONTINENCE Meaning

Bowel control problems, known as fecal incontinence or bowel incontinence, refer to the inability of a person to control their bowel movements. This may lead to the leakage of feces (waste material or poo) unexpectedly and anytime. The conditon may involve some occasional leakage to a complete loss over motions.1

As per Ayurveda, fecal/bowel incontinence (aniyantrit mala nissarana) is considered as a symptom in many conditions, such as diarrhea (Atisara), piles (Arsa), fistula (Bhagandhar) and rectal prolapse (Gudabhramsa). Many times, it is seen as a complication of surgery in ano-rectal region.4
