FATIGUE AYURVEDIC TREATMENT

Management of fatigue requires adequate rest to the individual if the cause is a temporary cause like physical exertion, exercise etc.1

In case there is an underlying cause, it needs to be corrected with medical treatment.1

Ayurveda considers controlling the symptoms through subduing the vitiated vata by snehana (oleation), svedana (medicated fomentation) and udvartana (dry massage), Tarpana (nourishment) and brunghana (strength promoting therapies). Panchkarma procedure like the basti karma (medicinal enemas) is also considered as a best way to manage excess vata.2

Diet Recommendations (Aahar)

  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water
  • A nutritious food plan needs to be provided. Ghee, oils, fats and eggs, green leafy vegetables, honey, buttermilk, dairy products such as milk and cheese, paneer, etc. are advised to improve caloric intake and provide energy.
  • Avoid
    • Foods that cause indigestion
    • Excess salt
    • Alcohol
    • Astringent foods

Lifestyle changes (Vihar)

  • Follow a systematic daily way of life (Dincharya) that includes appropriate sleeping and waking patterns, good quality and time for sleep, sexual activities, and exercises
  • Avoid activities that lead to stress
  • Avoid performing excessive exercises
  • Avoid suppression of urges (vegavidharan)
