PRESBYOPIA Meaning

Presbyopia is a condition where the eyes are not able to focus on a particular object due to weakness of the ocular muscles as a part of normal aging. It usually begins after the age of 40 and worsen by age 65.1

There is no description for Presbyopia in Ayurveda, but someclinical features of a condition called Timira can be correlated with presbyopia. Refractive errors are seen in Timira when the doshas (vata, pitta or kapha) are situated in the first & second patala (level/stages).2
