Trigeminal Nerve Pain Causes

Causes of TRIGEMINAL NERVE PAIN

TN pain originates from the trigeminal nerve, which carries the feelings of touch and pain from the face, eyes, nose, and mouth to the brain. The condition usually affects adults, but it can affect anyone at any age. TN may be caused by:

  • Multiple sclerosis – a condition where there is abnormal hardening of body tissues
  • Pressure on the trigeminal nerve from a swollen blood vessel or tumor

TN often has no cause. In people younger than 40 years of age, a cause is sometimes found.

According to Ayurveda, when either vata dosha alone or vata along with kapha dosha gets aggravated, they attack half of the head and cause severe pain which feels like cutting and churning in half of the head, neck, eye brow, temple, ear, eye or forehead region. The pain is intense and agonizing it is considered to be tridoshajanya disease.
