Diagnosis of dysarthria is based on the visible symptoms. The type of dysarthria can be evaluated by a speech-language pathologist .1

Apart from a physical exam, other tests may be needed, which incliude:1

  • Imaging tests: An MRI or CT scan can help to find out any structural cause of the speech problem.

  • A wholesome healthy diet should be adhered to for mental health and happiness.
  • A specific herb called Vacha (Acorus calamus) has shown speech enhancing properties.
  • Additionally, certain herbs belonging to the class of Medhya drugs such as Mandukaparni (Centella asiatica), Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri), Jatamansi (Nordostachys jatamansi) and especially Yashtimadhu (Glycyrrhiza glabra) should be used often as a part of diet and lifestyle.4

Lifestyle changes (Vihar)

  • Achar rasayan (Good behavior and lifestyle) influences the Pravar Satva (Higher mental equilibrium).3
