Itching in pregnancy Causes

Causes of ITCHING IN PREGNANCY

The  skin  undergoes  many  changes  during  pregnancy  and  heat  rashes  and itching are the most common of the skin complaints. This is caused by the extra blood volume the increased body heat and the hormonal changes. As the pregnancy progresses the stretching of the skin in response to the growing baby can aggravate itchiness.  Rashes may also be caused due to allergies, eczema or fungal infections. Itching can also be caused by other common skin conditions, including eczema. Scabies is also a reason for itching.

According to Ayurveda, growing baby imbalances all the doshas in mother thus disturbing the dosha balance in the body. Imbalance vata causes stretching of the skin, imbalance in pitta causes burning and coloration of skin and imbalanced kapha causes itching. All these together is termed as Kikkisa.
